Fundraiser for BEST PTO

It's that time of the year again: summer holidays are over, school is about to start if it hasn't started already, autumn is peeking from behind the corner.

I like school. I liked school when I was in school. I like school as a parent. It brings routines and normalcy to our lives again. :) This summer has been anything but routines and normalcy for us with our European travels. I do welcome these things back to my life.

I believe in community and helping out. Giving back if I only can. This is why I'm doing a fundraiser for BEST (Bedford Elementary School Together) PTO. They do amazing work for our elementary schools and I love how much they bring to the schools to make the learning more of an experience, fun, efficient and wholesome. They provide equipment, enrichment programs and bring visitors to the schools.

I want to support BEST through this fundraiser.  If you book a photography session (family, senior, child, engagement/couples, personal branding, generations, friends etc) between Sep 5th and Sep 17th I will donate $200 per booking to BEST. Please mention the fundraiser when you book your session.

Let's make this a successful fundraiser for an extremely good cause.

Late November I had a chance to take pictures of little cutie pie named Layla and her sweet family. Layla was turning 1 and the intention was to take her 1-year photos as well as family pictures during their session. By family I mean the immediate family but this time also the extended family with grandparents and an auntie.

"I called Christina to set up a relatively last minute extended family photo shoot just before Thanksgiving.  I hadn't really thought through any of the details other than we'd have out of town family all in town at the same time.  When we met to talk through the process, Christina was fantastic in listening to what I was looking for and immediately had some ideas of locations.  She provided some ideas of good color options, since I'm helpless when it comes to that and had no ideas walking into our meeting.  After our meeting, I felt confident that we were in good hands, and trusted that Christina would help us through the entire process."

"The session was cold and windy, but that's what you get in late November!  Christina managed the entire session well, and gave us breaks to warm up quickly before the next photos.  She came to the session with clear ideas and talked us through everything.  With a one year old, you never know what you're going to get, but Christina talked us through the different poses and all of them worked really well and Layla (by some miracle) cooperated."

"Once we got the whole family there, Christina was very efficient in moving through the multitude of photo combinations which helped minimize the time everyone was out in the cold and wind.  She even brought some warm apple cider to help everyone warm up after the photos were over.  We left the session feeling really great about the photos Christina captured and were anxiously awaiting the email telling us our photos were ready!"

"We were so excited to see the first couple sneak peek photos pop up on Christina's Facebook page, and couldn't wait to see the rest. Even though it was a busy time of year with everyone's holiday photos, Christina still got our pictures to us quickly.  It was even in time for us to get them onto our holiday cards!"

"We were thrilled with the quality of the photos.  Layla's pictures turned out so adorable - Christina captured so many special little moments and facial expressions.  The photos of the extended family turned out incredible - it shows how much love there is in this family.  We'll cherish these photos for a long time to come!"

Hearing back from a happy client is my driving force! I love what I do. I love to create family treasures as well as memories. In addition of having their family pictures taken, this family will forever remember how bitterly cold and windy it was that day but they were such troopers all of them. Thank you Family S. for letting me take your pictures!

Spring session dates are out

This past Tuesday we got more snow here in New England. 12 inches easily in our yard which was completely clear from snow before it. I have to admit that it doesn't feel very spring-y.

However, I'm looking forward and I'm hoping you are too. It's time for spring. It is also time to get those spring family picture sessions booked. Or HS senior sessions if you are a HS junior at the moment.  Or if you've gotten engaged recently it's time for your engagement pictures. What ever your need is I can definitely design a session for you.

Some of the spring session times have started to go already so you need to pick your date and contact me to book yours so that you won't miss out.

I will be working most of the summer abroad and after June 16th the next available times will be around mid August.

Meteorological spring is here. March has arrived. The weather is doing crazy things over here in Massachusetts. We had +21C one day at the end of February. Felt like summer. And then before that we had two snow storms with 60cm of snow and it all melted within two weeks. All completely gone. If Mother Nature is done with winter lets start thinking about spring and summer.

I'll be announcing my spring session dates soon. So keep your eyes peeled for that information. on FB and also here in the blog. But before that lets go back to last summer and to this wonderful family session I had with our neighbours. Such lovely people. And I had the privilege to photograph also the grandparents who were visiting from India.

I was very lucky to have the mother of the family write a bit about their experience in front of my camera.

"Having seen your wonderful photography before, it was exciting to prepare for the photoshoot.  We have only ever had in-studio pictures done before, so we were looking forward to more a more candid, comfortable experience, which you really delivered."

"Of course we know you, but I think regardless, your warmth makes you approachable for questions, like - what should we wear?!  As a family photographer, it's important to be flexible, since kids' moods are unpredictable, and we appreciated your flexibility and ability to work with us."

"The session went really smoothly.  I really appreciated that you took the time to research an appropriate location thoroughly ahead of time.  In fact, thanks to our photo session, I now know of an arboretum that I never knew existed before this!  In general, I appreciated the thoroughness of your preparations - location, poses, potential hurdles like weather and light, etc.  I also felt that in directing us you anticipated most of our questions, which shows a great understanding of people and families, in particular."

"We loved the pictures, and they were prompt and very easy to access.  I liked the amount of freedom I had once the pictures were in my hands, and I ALSO liked that you gave me a recommendation of where I could get some pictures printed in case I didn't want too much freedom ;-)."

"Thanks for a great experience, Christina!  We recommended you to multiple friends who also enjoyed their pictures and experiences."

Thank YOU! It was an honor to capture your family pictures for you to treasure in future! I hope will have the chance to do it again soon.

Girly giggles - Family photo session for Family C.-S. in Bedford, MA

Everyone is busy getting ready for the holiday season. Christmas trees are being decorated, lights strung outside to bring a bit of brightness and joy to the long, dark evenings. Boxes of Christmas decorations are brought up from the basements and all the precious memories tied to each individual decoration is back in our minds.

We've been busy as well just like everyone else. And I got an early Christmas gift: my mother arrived from Finland for Christmas and we love having her here.

Despite all the hustle and bustle I'm taking a moment to go back to summer months. Sunny and warm days. Sounds lovely, especially after last nights cold temperatures.  Here's some of the session pictures for a lovely family in our neighbourhood. I'll give Mrs C. the stage to tell you about their family photo session.

"Over all, we enjoyed the experience very much.  It was very easy standing in front of the camera.  It was comfortable and pleasant throughout the session."

PEEK-A-BOO!!!

"We had fun because you are very good at interacting with us, K. in particular. K. said she loved those pictures with the ball, the one with the ball where K.’s face was hiding behind. Her favorite moment was when she was lying on the blanket.  I think she had a lot of fun playing on the blanket."

"J. and I love the picture we both kissed K. on her cheek very much."

"Thank you so much for helping me out with the outfit preparation as well.  I am usually not bad to dress myself up, but when it comes to the whole family, I do need advice."

"We will highly recommend you to others if they need their family photos taken. Really appreciate your profession! THANK YOU!!"

No! Thank you! It was such a pleasure to take pictures of your family! I'm so glad to hear you had fun. I certainly did! :)
